The pandemic accelerated the urgency for enterprise digital transformation. A study conducted by KPMG in 2020 and recent research by the MIT Sloan School of Management support this conclusion. An interesting aspect of the MIT study centers on a handful of longstanding assumptions about how companies evaluate digital transformation. Many of those assumptions were upended, including one that IT teams could not keep pace with digital transformation efforts. The latter was proven wrong as many companies pivoted quickly to maintain operations and support remote work. Today, remote work is more than a perk, it is a fundamental business requirement and a tool to retain knowledge workers who demand more flexibility and work-life balance.
