Cisco Live: Powerful New Summarization Capabilities Introduced for Cisco Webex

By Melody Brue, Patrick Moorhead - June 15, 2023

During Cisco Live in Las Vegas, Cisco Webex introduced powerful new summarization capabilities. One standout feature is Catch Me Up meeting recaps, which provide attendees with concise summaries and action items to ensure no critical information is missed. This feature is particularly beneficial for those joining late from other meetings and saves time for punctual participants. Webex’s conversation summaries also empower AI-driven collaboration, enabling users to ask questions and engage in discussions even when not everyone is present.

One of my personal favorites is the introduction of summaries for Webex’s Vidcast video messaging tool. Vidcast summaries effectively organize video content into chapters and highlight key themes, making it effortless for users to find the information they need quickly. I believe that one of the most valuable aspects of AI is its ability to save time by providing summaries and transcripts, eliminating the need to watch entire meetings or videos.

Cisco also announced Webex Cloud Contact Center conversation summaries, ensuring more efficient and seamless customer interactions. These summaries address common frustrations such as poor chatbot experiences or being caught in endless phone-tree loops, leading to improved customer service.

These summarization capabilities for Webex are scheduled for release by the end of the year. While competitors like Zoom and Microsoft Teams have already introduced similar features, these additions are essential and strategic enhancements that strengthen the Webex platform.
